Raised amid the rivers of the Pacific Northwest, Josh carries forward a family legacy built on a hard-earned understanding of these waters. It's knowledge that can't be taught, only lived.

New or experienced anglers will both enjoy and learn many different things from the unique skillset of Captain Miller. He'll work hard and give you a full day of quality fishing.

Before you come

Preparing for your trip

Dress for the river

You may step into the water getting in and out of the boat. In winter, wear full rain gear with knee-high boots or waders.

Pack small

A small backpack or dry bag covers the day. Bring your own lunch and drinks, plus sunblock, a camera, and an extra layer. Leave a cooler in your car for the ride home.

Bring your license

Every angler needs a valid Washington State fishing license. Depending on your trip, you'll also need:

  • Salmon and steelhead trips: a Catch Record Card to record your salmon and steelhead.
  • Columbia River Endorsement: Anglers fishing for salmon or steelhead on the Columbia River and its tributaries must have a valid Columbia River Salmon and Steelhead Endorsement, where required by Washington regulations.
  • Sturgeon trips: a valid sturgeon catch record card, including for catch-and-release fishing, where required by Washington regulations.

Get your license and cards from WDFW before your trip.
